About the Scholarship

The Purple Heart Scholarship Fund is accredited by the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation, Inc. The foundation was established in the year 1959. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit that raises funds to support our nation’s veterans and their families. 

The Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial support to Purple Heart recipients and their families for the direct costs of higher education. It covers things like tuition, books, incidental fees, and room and board.


What are the basic requirements needed while applying for this scholarship grant?

  • The applicants must provide content of the essay describing their interest.

  • Students must indulge in extracurricular activities and community service.

  • The students must submit a letter of recommendation while applying for this grant. 

  • The applicant must demonstrate financial need and academic achievements.

  • The students applying for this grant must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.


The Purple Heart Scholarship Fund award amounts to

  • This scholarship award ranges from $1000 to $5000 each year which is non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship is limited to one candidate depending on maintaining their academic progress.


Deadline information

The applications are to be presented before the end of May 15, 2020. Understudies are informed to present their grant application and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be college-bound and been awarded the Purple Heart.

  • The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.

  • The applicant must be enrolled at an accredited U.S. institution or trade school as a full-time undergraduate student.

  • The applicant must be a high school or GED program graduate or upcoming graduate.

  • The spouse or surviving spouse of a Purple Heart recipient and member of the MOPH
