About the Scholarship

UNF David M. Hicks Scholarship is provided by the University of North Florida (UNF).

The foundation was established in the year 1986 to support, assist and encourage the students who are going to advance their academic career in the Florida region.

This foundation aims to educate the people of Florida by providing them mean to pay for their tuition fees, books, meals, campus, housing, and other academic expenses.

UNF David M. Hicks Scholarship is a need-based scholarship that seeks to assist students in achieving their dreams of earning a bachelor's degree while developing leadership and growth through Transformational Learning Opportunities (TLOs) including community service, study abroad, and undergraduate research.


How to apply for the scholarship?

  • Applications are available on the official website 'University of North Florida (UNF)' and all the applicants must access the online application to apply for this scholarship.

  • The applications available through the student's UNF myWings account.

  • the applicants have to submit one scholarship application.

  • In addition to all the above, the applicants must have to submit the FAFSA certificate to determine that for what scholarship he/she is eligible for.

  • A student must submit the Official scorecards of the ACT/SAT to demonstrate the completion of the graduation semester to demonstrate academic excellence.

  • A student must also submit one reference letter from a teacher, employer, counselor.

  • In addition to that, an applicant must write and submit a one-page personal statement addressing the topics listed on the UNF website

  • All the official transcripts and reference letters must be sent as PDF files to the official website.

     


Scholarship Award Amount

  • This scholarship award varies each year and is leveraged with other financial aid awards.

  • The total number of awards offered through this scholarship varies annually depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their requirements.


Deadline for the scholarship

All the documents mentioned above must be sent to the concerned department on or before October 15, 2020.

Students are advised to send all their documents before the deadline to avoid their application getting disqualified.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must reside in the U.S. or be a permanent resident.

  • He/she must reside in Duval County, Florida and be enrolled for any course in a recognized college or a university.

  • An applicant should be an incoming first-time-in-college freshman.

  • Candidates must be a current or previous resident of Jacksonville Housing Authority, Public Housing, Section 8 Housing, or Habitat for Humanity.
