About the Scholarship
Virginia Teaching Scholarship Loan Program (VTSLP) is certified by the Virginia Department of Education. The fundamental point of the VTSLP is to give financial help to understudies who are interested in pursuing a teaching career in one of the main five basic lack of educating zones.
What is the procedure to apply for this scholarship?
Students must have been completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to receive this grant.
The students will be required to submit a signed, notarized Promissory Note to the Virginia Department of Education.
Those students selected for the scholarship loan will be notified by the Virginia Department of Education.

This scholarship provides $10,000 per academic year for full-time students and will be prorated for part-time students based on the number of credit hours.
The total number of awards offered by this scholarship varies annually depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their eligibility.
The application deadline has not yet been announced, but students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other requirements prior, the applications and other informations about the scholarship are available online from the Virginia Department of Education website.
- The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen.
The applicant should be enrolled for a full-time or part-time teacher education program that is approved.
The student should maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better to be eligible for the scholarship.
The institution where the student is enrolled has to nominate the applicant for the scholarship.
- The applicant must be enrolled for a program organized by the Board of Education related to supporting a critical shortage area.
