About the Scholarship

Women's Independence Scholarship Program was begun in the year 1999 to give financial related help to women overcomers of intimate partner abuse who were completely changing themselves through education that will in return, offer them the opportunity to secure employment, individual independence, and self-sufficiency. 


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • Students must demonstrate financial need.

  • Exhibit a strong desire and the ability to complete a training and scholastic program.  

  • The understudies applying for this award must present a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.

  • Students are required to submit a reference letter and letter of recommendation.

  • Candidates must provide an essay as described in the application form.

  • This scholarship provides $2000 which is non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship varies depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen.

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident or a legal non-resident of the states of U.S.

  • The applicant must be a female who has survived intimate partner abuse and is separated for more than a year and less than 7 years. 

  • The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited university or college.
