University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) is a public institution that was established in the year 1966. It is located in the city of Baltimore and is one of the major universities in the area. The universities consist of three colleges and four schools and it also has training centers.
The university contributes to the economic development of the state through entrepreneurial initiatives, workforce training, k-16 partnerships, and technology commercialization in collaboration with public agencies and the corporate community. The university is run under the presidentship of Freeman A. Hrabowski since 1992.
