University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research institution that was established in the year 1890 as the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute with just 70 students and is located in Denton, Texas, United States. In the 1940s, the college campus served as a military site during World War II.
Joshua C. Chilton is credited with the establishment of the institute as he set up the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute with around 70 students. The Private College then became state-funded in the year 1901. Post the establishment of a library in 1913, more and more students started getting enrolled and four-year degrees were now up for grabs. The institute earned the status of a University in 1961 as it was renamed into North Texas State University. The institute did not become University of North Texas until 1988. By early 2000s, more than 30,000 students were enrolled at the University. This intstute has produced several notable students who later went on to find great acclaim in different fields such as music, sports, broadcast entertainment and media, and so on.

The student body of the university is very diverse and has students from all around the world with enrollment over 38,000 and the student-faculty ratio is 26:1. University of North Texas is a public university located in Denton, TX. University of North Texas covers an area of 1,200 acres. It was in 1890 when the University of North Texas was founded.
