How We Grade Colleges

The College Monk Report Card summarizes each institution with letter grades across four dimensions:

Grades are directional, not definitive. A "B" in Academics does not mean a university is a weak academic fit for any particular student. We encourage users to treat the Report Card as a starting point and complement it with campus visits, program-specific research, and conversations with current students.

How We Write Rankings & "Best Of" Lists

Ranking lists combine public IPEDS data with editorial judgment. For every ranking list, we disclose:

Affiliate Disclosure

The College Monk earns commissions when readers purchase products through some of our links — primarily books, test-prep materials, and admissions tools. These relationships never influence our editorial recommendations. If a product is featured in a guide, it is because our editors believe it is genuinely useful for readers. We also link to products we do not earn commissions on when they are the best fit.

Corrections & Feedback

If you find an error — whether in data, a date, a name, or a statement of fact — we want to know. Email [email protected] with the URL and the issue, and we will respond within three business days. Significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the affected page.

AI & Automation Policy

We use machine assistance for data aggregation, formatting, and auto-linking internal references. Every published piece of editorial content — guides, rankings, reviews, and explainers — is reviewed, edited, and signed off on by a named human editor before publication. We do not publish unreviewed AI-generated articles.
