About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the American Planning Association, an organization that provides leadership in the advancement of vital communities by advocating excellence in planning and promoting education. The Latinos and Planning Division of the APA strives to address the issues affecting Latino communities in the U.S. The top selected applicants may be required to take part in a telephone interview with a member of the committee.

How to apply for the scholarship?

The applicant must complete the application which can be found on the APA site.

Along with the application. the applicant should also submit a personal and background statement written by the student, an official academic transcript, one recommendation letter, a resume, and FAFSA. 


How much the scholarship award amounts to?

  • The award amounts to $500 per year and is non-renewable.

  • One award is offered per year. 

Deadline Information

The deadline date is set for March 2

Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be an official citizen of the United States.

  • A student must be a member of the Latinos and Planning Division at the time of submission of the application.

  • An applicant must be enrolled in either fourth year UG or first or second-year graduate students planning program accredited by PAB.
