About the Scholarship
The ASTA Alaska Airlines Scholarship was Established by Alaska Airlines in the year 1987. Alaska Airlines Foundation is proud to encourage outstanding service, that consistently earns the best U.S. airline recognition from the likes of Travel, Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler magazines. The purpose of this fund is to support students pursuing travel, tourism and hospitality degrees.
How to Apply for Scholarship?
Applications are available on the Tourism Cares website. All applicants must access the online application in order to apply for this scholarship.
- A student must submit a copy of his/her birth certificate or passport (preferred) or alien registration card.
A student must submit the Official scorecards of ACT/SAT to demonstrate the completion of the graduation semester as well as academic performance.
A student must also submit two reference letter, one must be from a faculty member, administrator, chapter advisor or employer. And another must be from an industry professional for whom he/she has worked.
In addition to that applicant must write and submit and a two-page essay on a topic listed in the scholarship application.
All the official transcripts and reference letters must be sent as PDF files directly to the financial aid of Tourism Cares.
Award Amount and Deadline:
The Tourism Cares financial aid department is funding $2000 to one eligible applicant per year, and it is non-renewable.
The scholarship deadline date is fixed on April 1st, 2020. Hence all the applicants must submit their necessary official documents and application no later than the given date.
A student must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada.
An applicant must be enrolled in a travel and tourism- or hospitality-related program of study in order to receive this fund.
A student must be entering his/her second, third or fourth year at an accredited two-year college in the upcoming fall semester/term and will have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours by the end of the current semester/term.
A student must enroll for a part-time or full-time graduate study.
Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
