About the Scholarship
The Sidney R. Baer, Jr. Foundation is an NPO created to assist individuals with mental illnesses in order to help them pursue an improved life via reintegration - the process through which an individual with a mental illness may find a purposeful job and academic prosperity, restoring their relationships, and independent living.
This foundation funds the Baer Reintegration Scholarship, an essay writing contest, evaluating its contestants on the basis of their academic background, citations, essay quality, future aspirations, rehabilitation, recent experiences, and the application procedure.
The results will be declared in July, and the scholarship amount will directly be forwarded to the educational institution of the candidate.
How to Apply?
The following documents are required by the candidate to apply for the Baer Reintegration Scholarship:
- A completed copy of the candidate's application, available online on the official website of Center for Reintegration
- Three self-written essays on the topics mentioned in the application
- Three online finished recommendation forms
- The candidate's unofficial school transcripts
- The candidate's targetted school's statement of education financial requirements from the school's official website
- A Personal Consent & Release (PCR) form signed by the candidate\
- A copy of the candidate's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
All the required documents need to be submitted online on or before the deadline date.
The amount of scholarship is evaluated on the basis of the specific individual's financial status and requirements.
The scholarship amount will directly be forwarded to the educational institution of the candidate to cover the tuition fee, lab requirements, and other compulsory expenses.
Any extra scholarship funds will be returned to the source of scholarship at the year-end.
The deadline date to apply for the Baer Reintegration Scholarship and submit the above-mentioned documents is January 17, 2020.
The following eligibility criteria must be met by the applicants in order to apply for the Baer Reintegration Scholarship:
The candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
The candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
The candidate must be diagnosed with bipolar disease, schizophrenia, or schizoaffective disorder and be receiving medical treatment for the disease. The student must be actively involved in rehabilitative or reintegration efforts, such as clubhouse membership, part- or full-time employment, volunteer efforts, or school enrollment.
The candidate must be pursuing one of the following educational programs at a U.S. school: high school equivalency programs; trade or vocational school, or vocational programs; associate's degree; bachelor's degree; graduate degree. Noncredit, online, home study, and distance learning courses are not covered under the scholarship
The candidate must be a U.S. student.
