About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the Ball State University. David Letterman, who was in the top 50 greatest TV stars of all time, started a scholarship in 1985 for Ball State students with a telecommunications minor or major. Lettermanbased his scholarship primarily on creativity, and not grades.
How to apply for the scholarship?
Interested applicants should submit a creative project, such as writing, research, interactive media, computer graphics, or websites.
Applicants must also submit FAFSA.
How much the scholarship award amounts to?
The award is distributed between the first, second, and third place as follows:
- Winner: $10,000
- First runner-up: $5,000
- Second runner-up: $3,333
Applicants should have between 30 and 102 total credit hours at the end of the fall semester.
Applicants should have a major or minor in telecommunications.
Applicants should be enrolled in at least 12 hours of telecommunications courses at the time.
Applicants should continue as a fulltime student the semester after receiving the scholarship.
