About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to the students to gain a deeper understanding of local government and learn about the broad range of career options by serving the residents of Houston financially. This scholarship fund helps high school seniors at a private or public school to pursue the education of their dream and achieve academic goals.
How to Apply for this scholarship?
An applicant must choose a city career put yourself in a city employee’s shoes, and write 500 words about how you would strengthen the City of Houston.
Research current events about the City of Houston.
Provide specific suggestions about how you would address issues, improve or create innovative city programs.
Essays about careers or entities outside the purview of the City of Houston will not be considered.
Award Amount and Deadline
The scholarship award amounts to $2,000 for first prize, $1,200 for second prize, $800 for 3rd prize, two $500 for honorable mention.
All the necessary documents and forms must be submitted to the concerned department no later than March 18 to be eligible for the scholarship.
An applicant must be a creative high school senior at a private or public school in the Houston area.
A student must have an organization and accurate presentation skills.
Candidates must submit an essay following the instructions that are given by the sponsor.
A student must also demonstrate evidence of research.
