About the Scholarship

Douvas Memorial Scholarship is licensed and is sponsored by the Wyoming Department of Education. The organization awards each year to this scholarship program.  This award was established by Peter George Douvas who was basically from Greece.

The grant amount is provided to a first-generation American youth who exhibits financial need and the inspiration to go to school. Original American understudies who are planned to go to accredited Wyoming junior colleges or the University of Wyoming are qualified for the grant.


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • The current official transcript must be submitted along with the SAT/ACT scorecards to prove the academic excellence of a student.

  • Candidates must have to submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application form to determine the financial position of his/her family to pay for their education.

  • The applicant should return the completed application to his/her school’s counselor or principal.

  • A counselor or principal must complete the bottom portion of the application form and mail the form.


Scholarship Amount

  • This scholarship amounts to $500 annually which is non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship is limited to two candidates each year based on the availability of funds and the academic records of a student

All the documents must be submitted to the institution by the end of April 30, 2020. Applications and other related information are available from the Wyoming Department of Education website.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a first-generation American i.e. whose parents were not born in the U.S.

  • The applicant must be residing in Wyoming and be a legally recognized citizen of the United States.

  • A candidate should be a high school senior between the age group of 18-22.
