About the Scholarship

The DREAM Act Scholarship is awarded by the State of New York. It is an initiative to provide services and information about government agencies and programs, to the people of New York state.

The DREAM Act Scholarship is an essay-writing competition that awards those participants who show potential for great futures. The participants are evaluated based on their writing skills, creativity, knowledge, and several other factors.


How to Apply?

The documents required to apply for the DREAM Act Scholarship are:

  • A completed application, which can be found online on the official website of New York State
  • A self-written essay on two original and supportive ideas to improve the immigrant experience in the U.S.
  • A copy of the applicant's resume
  • Unofficial transcripts of all the educational institutions attended

All the required documents need to be submitted online, on or before the deadline date


Scholarship Amount

The DREAM Act Scholarship awards one non-renewable monetary reward of $500, every year.


Deadline Information

The above-mentioned documents need to be submitted online, on or before the deadline date of April 30.


Eligibility Criteria

The student applying for the DREAM Act Scholarship must:

  • be an international or U.S. high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student.
  • have a good academic standing, along with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
