About the Scholarship

The Office of Student Financial Assistance of Massachusetts Department of Higher Education provides the Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program to young educators and teachers to encourage and support them to receive higher education without having to face any financial troubles.

By cultivating qualified teachers, quality education can be imparted to the young generation beginning from infants, and hence improve the societal conditions by nurturing educated citizens.

The scholarship program in hand is available to those students who are enrolled in or planning to enroll in an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree program in any course of study related to the field of Early Childhood Education.


Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program Awards

The scholarship amount is awarded based on the number of credits and the college or university the applicant is enrolled in. The scholarship amount is divided as follows:

  • The students enrolled in Community College receives $2,250 per semester, with $250 per credit.

  • The students of State University receive $400 per credit with a maximum of $3,600 each semester.

  • The students enrolled in private colleges, universities or the University of Massachusetts receive a maximum amount of $4,500 per semester, where the student receives $500 per credit.


Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program Application Requirements

  • The applicant must complete the FAFSA procedures before applying for the scholarship program.

  • The applicant must be eligible for the financial aids provided by the state government and the federal government according to the criteria put forth by the same.

  • The applicant must be permanently residing in the state of Massachusetts and must be enrolled in an eligible educational institution in the state.

  • The applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in any program of study in the field of Early Childhood Education.

  • The applicant must be pursuing a career in the field of Education as an educator or provider under the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.

  • The applicant must not hold a bachelor’s degree.

  • The student must complete the application form available on the Student portal on the official website.


Early Childhood Educators Scholarship Program Application Deadline

The application process commences on 1st April for the academic year 2019-2020. The deadline will be announced on the official website.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a legal Massachusetts resident.

  • The student must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen under Title IV regulations.

  • The student should be approved by the Selective Service Commission.

  • The student should not have any federal or state student loans or owe a refund for any previous financial aid received.

  • The student must not be a recipient of any financial aids offered by the federal and state governments.

  • The applicant must be a matriculated student who is enrolled in an undergraduate program in fields related to Early Childhood Education.

  • The applicant must be employed as an educator in an early education and care program.

  • The student must not have completed a bachelor's degree before.
