About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the Freidin Brown, P.A., a Miami-based law firm, founded in 1974, dedicated to helping injured individuals recover maximum compensation. The legal team consists of a small group of selected attorneys with over a century of experience representing clients in cases including medical malpractice, complex personal injury, and whistleblower cases. The scholarship provides financial support to LGBTQ students throughout South Florida who strive to lead in a field of Social Justice.

How to apply for the scholarship?

  • The applicant must complete the application which can be found on the online site.

  • Along with the application, the applicant should submit an essay of under 1000 words that addresses one of the topics mentioned, and a personal statement of under 500 words

  • Academic transcripts, tax returns, and FAFSA should also be submitted. 

How much the scholarship award amounts to?

There are four awards provided

  • One Scholarship for $10,000
  • Three Scholarships for $5,000 

All awards are provided on a one-time basis and are non-renewable.

Deadline Information

The deadline date is set for August 9


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Must be a graduate student or current undergraduate student who has completed at least two years of study.

  • Must be majoring in social work, community policy, law, education, or any other relative field addressing social justice issues.

  • Must identify as LGBTQ or have a history as an active ally.
