About the Scholarship
Herbert Lehman Education Fund Scholarship awarded by NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. This award was initially awarded to help African-American students attend formerly segregated four-year colleges and universities in the South and to increase the number of African-Americans in the legal profession. Today, Lehman Scholarships are awarded to students of outstanding character who are entering college for the first time and who will be attending an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time undergraduate student.
How to Apply
The Application for this scholarship is available online on the NAACP Legal Defense Fund website. Apart from the complete application applicants have to submit two essays of about 500 words on the topics mentioned in the application form, three letters of recommendation, official transcript, ACT/SAT scores and FAFSA.
The award amount for this scholarship is $2000 and is renewable.
The deadline for this scholarship is 01/04/2019. All applications and supporting documents must be received online by the deadline date.
Must have a demonstrable record of community and school involvement that reveals exceptional leadership potential.
Must be a graduating high school senior and/or first-time undergraduate student enrolling at a four-year college or university.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
The student must demonstrate academic achievement.
