About the Scholarship

The Fannie and John Hertz Foundation is available to graduate students majoring in physical sciences at select partner universities of the foundation. Eligibility Criteria

This award is for U.S. students. Must attend one of the participating schools. A list of participating schools can be found at www.hertzfoundation.org/dx/Fellowships/Guidelines/Schools.aspx. Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident. Must meet one of the following criteria: have received a bachelor's degree by the time he/she proposes to commence tenure of his/her fellowships; propose to complete a program of graduate study leading to an advanced degree; or have already commenced graduate study. Must be enrolled in a field of graduate study that is directed toward the understanding and solving of problems associated with contemporary human concern, using applications of knowledge from the physical and engineering sciences. (This is in contrast to work whose primary purpose is to extend the frontier of knowledge in the physical sciences for the sake of new knowledge alone.)
