About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, an organization that facilitates philanthropy and works to strengthen their community and administer funds and provide when it is needed for the charities. The organization even provides technical support to help nonprofits institutions operate more maximum.
The Jay Lamando Scholarship was established by his family and friends to honor the challenges faced by Jay Lamando while fighting against diabetes and their problems. This scholarship is awarded to seniors that graduate from John Jay and Roy Ketcham High Schools and were part of a sports team or are active in after-school clubs or activities and planning to attend an accredited college full-time.
How to apply for the scholarship?
The applicant should complete an application which can be found on the Community Hudson Valley site.
Along with the application, the applicant must also submit an essay about someone who made an impact on their life in 500 words.
In addition to the essay, an applicant must also submit their official academic transcripts and two recommendation letters that must have made within the last six months.
A copy of the student's SAR and EFC that a student receives at the time of FAFSA form submission.
Deadline and Scholarship Amount?
The award amounts to $500 per year and is non-renewable. In order to avail of the scholarship benefits, a student needs to submit all the required documents by April 1.

You have to be a graduate from John Jay Senior High School or Roy C. Ketcham High School.
You must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA out of 4 to be eligible to receive the scholarships.
A student must show that they have participated in various sports or other extracurricular activities.
Candidate must also demonstrate the need for financial assistance.
