About the Scholarship

The Scholarship is started by John Csizmar to the applicants who are actual need for financial assistance for their education. The award is given to one male and female student who is graduating senior from Poughkeepsie High School. The student must be exceptional at academic study and have participated in high school sports, or a student must have participated in community service projects, which are the added advantage to receive scholarship awards.

How to Apply for the Scholarship?

  • An applicant needs to fill and submit the FAFSA application form in order to gain a scholarship award.

  • A student receiving the scholarship award must write an essay about a career goal, personal skills, and community service. The essay must be handwritten and limited to 500 words.

  • After completing the FAFSA form, an applicant will get a copy of the Student Aid Report and Expected Family Contribution details.

  • In addition to that student must provide two recommendation letters from a teacher or an instructor.

What is the total amount awarded?

The scholarship awards $3500 to one male student and female student who is the high school senior and the award amount is non-renewable.

To apply for this scholarship an applicant must submit all the necessary documents and transcripts before April 1.

Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant should be a graduating senior from Poughkeepsie High School.

  • Recipients should participate in school sports or show their involvement in community service. In addition to this, a student must also demonstrate the ability to succeed in college.

  • A student should also demonstrate financial need.
