About the Scholarship
The "John Lennon Scholarship Competition" award is awarded by the organization 'BMI Foundation, Inc.' This scholarship is for those current U.S students whose interest is in songwriting. This scholarship is given assistance and support for tuition fees, books, board and other academic expenses.
Applications are available on the official website 'BMI Foundation, Inc' and all the applicants must access the online application in order to apply for this scholarship.
- The applicant has to log in to the website first for applying.
- A student must submit an original song with lyrics accompanied by whatever instrumentation is chosen by him/her.
- The applicant must have to upload a .mp3 or .mp4 file of his/her song, which must be named only with the title of the song.
- Applicant must have to submit FAFSA or TASFA certificate.
A student must submit the Official scorecards of ACT/SAT to demonstrate the completion of the graduation semester as well as academic performance.
In addition to that applicant must write and submit and a two-page essay on a topic listed in the scholarship application.
All the official transcripts and reference letters must be sent as PDF files.
The awarded amount for the scholarship:
The amount awarded for this scholarship is $8,000 per year and is non-renewable. The number of awards given to the eligible candidates is three.
The deadline of the scholarship:
The deadline for the scholarship is the 1st of February 2020.
The applicant should be a high school senior or undergraduate or graduate student.
His/Her grade point average should be of 3.0 or higher.
He/she must be a permanent resident of the U.S.
His/her interest must be in songwriting.
His/her age should be between 17 to 24 at the time of applying.
