About the Scholarship
The GRCF started the Josephine Ringold Scholarship to encourage higher academic education in the Kent Country region. The community is providing a great opportunity to the residents of Kent Country, Michigan to achieve their career and academic goals.
The students who are unable to pursue their higher academic studies or the technical career after their high school due to a financial burden can acquire this benefit to achieve their dream. In order to receive this fund, a student must be a resident of Kent County who will be attending the undergraduate program at Aquinas, Calvin, Cornerstone, Davenport, GRCC, GVSU, or Kendall college. The student should maintain the cumulative GPA as specified by the financial aid.
How to Apply for Scholarship?
To avail the benefits of the scholarship, a recipient must fill and submit the FAFSA application form, which clearly demonstrates the financial position of his/her family to pay for the education.
A student must demonstrate the number of awards received, extracurricular activities participated, volunteerism, employment status, and community involvement.
Additionally, a student must also submit the most recent official semester academic transcript - high school seniors must include transcripts of first-semester senior year.
It is mandatory for an individual to submit an essay about the reasons for their choice of college, course of study, career goals, plans for financing your education, and information on past activities benefiting any community.
Award Amount and Deadline:
The GRCF is funding $1000 to one applicant based on the student's financial need and academic excellence. This award is non-renewable.
The scholarship application starts on 1st December 2019. All eligible candidates must submit all the documents and apply for the scholarship on or before 1st March 2020.
A student should be a permanent resident of Kent County.
In order to receive this fund, a student should attend Aquinas, Calvin, Cornerstone, Davenport, GRCC, GVSU, or Kendall college.
A student must have financial need and a 3.0 minimum GPA to avail this award.
