About the Scholarship

The Kansas Military Service Scholarship is awarded by the Kanas Board of Regents to the students to cover their tuition and college fees. A student must be a Kanas Residents and must study at a public Kansas institution. An applicant must be served in a military service at international waters or on foreign soil in support of military operations for which the person received hostile fire pay for at least 90 days after September 11, 2001. A Recipients must be received an honorable discharge or under honorable conditions discharge from military service or is still in military service. 


How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • The scholarship is based on financial need hence an applicant needs to fill and submit a FAFSA application form to demonstrate financial need.

  • An applicant must provide DD-214 or an active-duty order military discharge papers which must indicate the location of the applicant's duty and indicate the person has served after September 11, 2001, in any military operation for which the person received hostile fire pay.

  • An applicant must also submit the State of Kansas Student Aid Application

  • Priority in awarding scholarships is given to those students with the greatest financial need. Graduate students are not eligible for this scholarship.


Award Amount and Deadline:

The Foundation is awarding $4200 to the students who meet the eligibility criteria.  The awards are renewable based on academic performance.

The scholarship deadline is May 1st. All applicant needs to submit all required documents for a scholarship before the mentioned deadline.


Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be a Kansas resident.

  • Applicants must remain in good academic standing at the Kansas educational institution where they are enrolled.

  • A student should receive an honorable discharge or under honorable conditions (general) discharge from military service or is still in military service.

  • Graduate students are not eligible for this award.

  • A student should be in the greatest financial need.
