About the Scholarship

Kentucky Early Childhood Development Scholarship is awarded by KHEAA to the students who are attending specific courses in the field of early childhood education such as Childhood Development Associate Credential, associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a program approved by the Early Childhood Development Authority.

The scholarship is available to students who are pursuing a certificate course in the same field as well.

Kentucky Early Childhood Development Scholarship Awards

The recipient receives an annual sum of $1800 during the tenure of the scholarship. This amount can be used to fund the tuition and fees of the institution.

Kentucky Early Childhood Development Scholarship Application

  • The applicant must complete the FAFSA procedures to apply for the scholarship.

  • The student must be a resident of the state of Kentucky.

  • The student must be enrolled in one of the eligible colleges for less than 9 credit hours per term.

  • The applicant must be employed in an eligible early childhood facility.

  • The applicant must be working in a public preschool program funded by the state as an associate teacher.

  • The applicant must have good academic standing.

Kentucky Early Childhood Development Scholarship Deadline

The application and other documents must be submitted by the applicant to the Scholarship Committee of the organization before 15th July without fail.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a Kentucky resident.

  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident

  • Be enrolled no more than 9 credit hours per term in the scholarship program curriculum at a participating school pursuing one of the approved credentials.

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.

  • Be employed at least 20 hours weekly in a participating early childhood facility or be employed as a preschool associate teacher in a state‐funded pre-school program.

  • Not be eligible for state or federal training funds through Head Start, a public preschool program, or First Steps.

  • Have no unpaid financial obligation to KHEAA or to any other Title IV program.

  • Agree to a service commitment based on the credential pursued.
