About the Scholarship

LAEF General Scholarship is given by the Latin American Education Foundation, to high school seniors college undergraduate and graduate students in any field. the Latin American education foundation LAEF is established as a leader in meeting the higher educational needs of Hispanic students in Colorado. LAEF focuses on providing Hispanic and Latino students access to higher education.


How to Apply

The applications are available on the official website of Latin American Education Foundation. The LAEF scholarship application requires several written components and uploaded documents. you can complete the application in multiple sessions. Applicants are required to submit the following via the online application which will be used to verify their eligibility.

  • Unofficial transcript

  • Official ACT/SAT scores

  • Current photo

  • List of extracurricular activities

  • Written statement(s) – not to exceed 1,000 words each, one for first time applicants or two for renewing applicants

  • Financial documents – for the person claiming the student

    • Student Aid Report (SAR) if FAFSA was completed; or

    • 2018 tax return

  • Two letters of recommendation

    • One letter must be from a representative at your high school or college-principal, teacher, guidance counselor, etc.

    • One letter must be from another source, personal or professional - employer, mentor, coach, etc.

    • Recommender  will receive an email with instructions when the student identifies them as the recommender on the application

      • Recommender must be at least 21 years of age and not related to the applicant

      • ​Recommender is required to complete a confidential recommendation through the online LAEF application system


Scholarship Amount

This scholarship award provides $2,000 per year and is renewable.


Deadline Information

The applications are to be submitted by the end of November 24, 2019. Students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other requirements before the due date to meet eligibility. Applications and other related information are available online on the Latin American Education Foundation website.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All Colorado residents - regardless of U.S. permanent legal residency status or U.S citizenship

  • Hispanic origin or actively involved in the Hispanic community

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative on a weighted GPA scale of high school or college

  • High school seniors, college undergraduate, and graduate students are eligible to apply
