About the Scholarship

The scholarship was established by the late entrepreneur and inventor Jonathan R. Lax in the year 1994 to help and encourage gay men students to pursue their higher education after the high school study. Through this award, the applicants can demonstrate their ability, performance to stand out in society. The recipients must be open about their sexual preference and must act as role models for other gay men with similar potential.

A candidate must be matriculated in a degree program at an accredited college, graduate, or professional school anywhere, or to men attending such schools within the Philadelphia region.


How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • In order to receive this fund, an applicant must create an account with a username and password.

  • After signing up for their account, a student needs to complete an online scholarship application by attaching the official documents and scorecards before the deadline.


Award Amount and Deadline:

The Organization is providing $5,000 and $10,000 to an applicant who lives in the five-county Philadelphia region. The award numbers vary annually, and it is non-renewable.

The scholarship deadline is set for 1st November 2019. All applicants need to apply for this scholarship on or before the deadline mentioned.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The scholarship is awarded  for the purpose of encouraging gay men to obtain additional education, aspire to positions in which they contribute to society, 

  • A student should live in the five-county Philadelphia region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties) and Camden County.

  • A student should be matriculated in a degree program at an accredited college, graduate, or professional school anywhere.
