About the Scholarship

Letitia B. Carter Scholarship is granted by the Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation (RAMEF). The Letitia B. Carter Scholarship is exhibited in memory of the former CEO of the Restaurant Association of Maryland. 

Letitia B. Carter Scholarship is granted to Maryland inhabitants interested in seeking hospitality-related coursework. It is accessible to secondary school understudies and undergrads as well as secondary school, school or corporate instructors and current hospitality industry experts.


How to apply for this scholarship grant?

  • Candidates are required to submit one typed and double-spaced essay describing any personal skills and characteristics that will help you meet the future challenges of the foodservice/hospitality industry.

  • Students must submit a photograph, a photocopy of his/her college curriculum.

  • A current official transcript is to be sealed and submitted from his/her current high school or college.

  • Two letters of recommendation must be submitted one from a supervisor and one from a teacher.

  • The understudies applying for this award must present a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship varies annually depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their requirements.


Deadline info

The applications are to be presented before the end of April 15, 2020. Understudies are informed to present their grant application, and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a Maryland resident.

  • Must be a high school senior or college student.

  • Must be a high school, college or corporate instructor.

  • Must be pursuing a course related to hospitality.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

  • Students must demonstrate a minimum of 400 hours of documented industry experience.

  • Instructors must demonstrate a minimum of 1500 hours of documented industry experience.
