About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the American Library Association, which is the oldest and largest library association in the world. It works to expand library services in America and to promote the profession of librarianship. The LITA/ Christian Larew Memorial Scholarship is for students of the ALA-accredited MLS degree. The scholarship awarded yearly, is designed to encourage qualified individuals into the library and information technology field. There are three major factors that are considered while awarding this scholarship: academic performance, leadership qualities and commitment to a career in librarianship.
How to apply for the scholarship?
The applicant must complete the application that can be found on the American Library Association site.
Along with the application, the applicant must also submit three references, official academic transcripts, and FAFSA.
How much the scholarship award amounts to?
The award amounts to $3,000 per year and is non-renewable
One award is offered per year.
The award is for international and U.S. students.
The applicant must plan to work in the library and information technology field.
Must pursue a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree. The student may not have earned more than 12 semester hours toward the MLS degree prior to June 1 of the award year.
