About the Scholarship

Lycoming County Medical Society Scholarship Fund is accredited by The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. the foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, which was established in the year 1954.

The Lycoming County Medical Society (LCMS) Scholarship is provided for medical students who are residents of Lycoming County. This scholarship is made possible by contributions from Lycoming County physicians.


What are the procedures to be followed while applying for this scholarship?

  • The candidate must submit Two reference letters, from people other than relatives, recording the candidate's integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a future doctor.

  • Candidates are required to present a composed one-page article specifically describing why the candidate decided to become a doctor and what commitments he/she hopes to make to the health profession.

  • Candidates are educated to give a letter from the candidate's medical school confirming that he/she is enlisted full time at that establishment
  • The candidates are educated to present their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to get this award.


Lycoming County Medical Society Scholarship Fund award amounts to

  • This scholarship provides $3000 each year to a qualified medical student, the awards are non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship is limited to 2 candidates each year depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their requirements.


Deadline info

The applications are to be presented before the end of September 30, 2020. Understudies are informed to present their grant application, and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Applications and other data are accessible online on The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society website.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Available to residents of Lycoming County in Pennslyvania.

  • Must be enrolled full time in an accredited program in an allopathic or osteopathic medical school in the U.S.
