About the Scholarship

M. Hildred Blewett Fellowship is accredited by The American Physical Society (APS). The APS is a non-profit organization working to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics through its outstanding research journals, scientific meetings, and education, outreach, advocacy, and international activities. 

M. Hildred Blewett Fellowship award was established by M. Hildred Blewett to enable women to return to physics research careers after having had to interrupt those careers. 


What are the requirements needed while applying for this grant?

  • Students applying for this grant must demonstrate financial need.

  • Students must provide 1-3 letter(s) of recommendation, one of which may be from a designated mentor and should be submitted on the application portal.

  • The candidates are educated to present their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to get this award.

  • Students must submit a letter of institutional support during the tenure of the grant.


M. Hildred Blewett Fellowship award amounts to

  • This scholarship award amount provides $45000 each year which is non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship varies each year depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their requirements.  


Deadline info

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a citizen, legal resident, or resident alien of the U.S or Cannada.

  • Must have completed work towards a Ph.D.

  • The candidate must provide written proof from a U.S. or Canadian institution.
