About the Scholarship

Millie Brother Scholarship is authorized by the Children of Deaf Adults, International (CODA). The foundation is a non-profit association for adults, hearing sons and daughters of deaf parents. 

The Millie Brother Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to hearing children of deaf adults to help them pursue their education. The scholarship can be used for undergraduate or graduate study.


What are the materials needed while applying for this scholarship?

  • A current official transcript is to be submitted from the school or college.

  • Students must submit with two letter of recommendation from teachers along with a signed letter of recommendation.

  • Candidates must provide an essay describing the applicant's experience as a child of a deaf adult who has shaped their life and goals.

  • The letter of agreement must be faxed to CODA at the number provided.

  • The candidates are instructed to exhibit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to get this honor.


Millie Brother Scholarship award amounts to

  • This scholarship provides $3000 annually which is non-renewable, but the students may re-apply as long as presented at school.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship is limited to 2 candidates each year depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their requirements.


Deadline information

The applications are to be exhibited before the finish of April 05, 2020. Understudies are educated to display their award application, and different necessities are to be submitted before the due date. Applications and other data are open online on the Children of Deaf Adults, International (CODA) website.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a high school senior or current undergraduate college student.

  • Must be the hearing son or daughter of one or more deaf parents.

  • This award is for international and U.S. students.
