About the Scholarship

This scholarship is available for Illinois resident undergraduate and graduate students who are African American/Black, Hispanic American, Asian American or Native American origin and planning to become preschool, elementary or secondary school teachers. Eligibility Criteria

This award is for U.S. students. Must be a resident of Illinois. Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Must be a minority student of either African American/Black, Hispanic American, Asian American, or Native American origin. Must be enrolled in a course of study which, upon completion, qualifies the student to be certified as a preschool, elementary or secondary school teacher by the Illinois State Board of Education, including alternative teacher certification. Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at a qualified Illinois institution of higher education. Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Must be enrolled at least a half-time.
