About the Scholarship
National High School Poetry Contest is licensed by the Live Poets Society of New Jersey. An institution that was established in the year 1998 to respect and empower the young people of America in pursuits poetic.
The establishment expects to plan to lift up and respect young artists, to encourage them to proceed into more significant levels of education, and to give a forum to young writers to feature their work and to make their voices heard through their poetry.
National High School Poetry Contest is open to all U.S secondary school understudies, which would give a chance to genuine young poets to have their work perused, regarded and published with dignity.
What is the application procedure?
The students are required to submit a poem of 20 lines or less.
An application must provide their essay without any guidance, and be their sole work.
Poems are to be written only in the English language.
Entries are accepted by mail or through the contact information provided.
Entries must include the student's name, full mailing address, name of school, graduating year, and name of his/her English or writing teacher.
Contest Award Amount
The awards offered by this scholarship vary from $100 to $500 annually which is non-renewable.
The total number of awards offered through this scholarship is limited to 9 candidates each academic year, four Editor's Choice winners, four Best of Issue winners, and one award given to the best poem for the year.
The applications are to be presented to the concerned department on or before the end of December 31.
Students are advised to keep track of their deadlines to avoid their application being disqualified.
Since this award is for US students, a candidate must submit documents relating to their citizenship. In addition, an applicant must be a high school student who is registered in an accredited college or a university.
