About the Scholarship

Ohio GFOA Member Continuing Education Scholarship is sponsored by the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association.

The foundation is promoting the exchange of information among finance officers of all Local Governments, Ohio GFOA works to Meet the Challenges of the Ever-Evolving Profession of Government Finance and Fosters Increase Cooperation Among Governments and Private Financial Institutions.

Ohio GFOA Member Continuing Education Scholarship is provided as tuition reimbursement to students and pursue the education of their dream with no financial burden. 


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • Applicants must provide a sealed letter of recommendation from the supervisor.

  • Students must submit a copy of the jurisdiction’s tuition reimbursement policy or statement of supervisor if there is none.

  • The candidates are instructed to exhibit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application form to determine their family's financial position to pay for education.

  • The application may include other sealed letters of recommendation.


Ohio GFOA Member Continuing Education Scholarship Award Amount

  • This scholarship award amounts to $1000 annually which is non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered through this scholarship is limited to 2 deserving candidates each year based on the availability of funds.


Deadline Information

All the applicants are advised to send the documents to the concerned department no later than July 15, 2020, to be eligible to receive the scholarship award amount.

Any application form send post-July will not be considered and will be disqualified from further application process.


Eligibility Criteria

  • A candidate must be a member of the Ohio GFOA.

  • An applicant must be recognized as the United States citizen and be enrolled in an Ohio college or a university.

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, a recipient must be pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher and be majoring in accounting, finance, budget, or any related field.

  • Must have been employed in a government position for two or more years.
