About the Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 2007 by Nikki Coyote with a dedication to social justice for lesbians pursuing theatre or visual arts.

The Scholarship was offered by Pride Foundation. It was designed to help the LGBTQ-distinguished people who have the inability to reverse financially. The government aims to ensure that individuals live in the networks as a whole in a healthy and straightforward way.

How to apply?

  • All applications must be submitted online.

  • The individual must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but can study elsewhere. 

  • Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education which includes a community college, four-year public or private college or university, certificates or diploma program, etc

  • If selected, students are required to bring a transcript.

  • Students must be members of the LGBTQ and allied community.

  • Students must submit the following: Contact information for two references, one should be a teacher, counsellor or another academic representative who are familiar with her capabilities and potential.

  • Applicants are required to answer six essay questions on topics of educational goals, career goals, activities, challenges and a quote (limited to 5000 characters).

Scholarship amount

The scholarship amount awarded typically range between $500 to $12,000 annually and are non-renewable. The average amount awarded last year was $4,160.


The deadline for the application is Friday, 10th January 2020.



Eligibility Criteria

  •  One of the following states must be a resident: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.

  • Must be a permanent U.S. citizen or legal resident.

  • Only female candidates can apply for the scholarship.

  • At the time of application, must be an undergraduate or graduate student.

  • Must focus on or plan to pursue a theatre career.

  • It has to be identified as a lesbian.

  • This award is for students from the United States.
