About the Scholarship

 This Port of Wilmington Maritime Societys Dennis Latina Scholarship promoting economic development through the support of businesses in and around the Port started from 1978. This scholarship gives assistance to the eligible candidates their tuition fees and educational expenses and awarded by the organization Delaware Higher Education Office.


How to apply for the scholarship?

  • Applications are available on the official website Delaware Higher Education Office and all the applicants must access the online application in order to apply for this scholarship.

  • A student must submit FAFSA certificate.
  • A student must submit the Official scorecards of ACT/SAT to demonstrate the completion of the graduation semester as well as academic performance.

  • A student must also submit a reference letter

  • In addition to that applicant must write and submit and a two-page essay on a topic listed in the scholarship application.


    The awarded amount for the scholarship:

    The amount awarded for this scholarship is $2,500 per year and is non-renewable but the applicants who got the award in the previous year can re-apply for the scholarship. The number of an award given to the eligible candidates per year is three.


    Deadline of the scholarship:

    The deadline for the scholarship is the 1st of April.


Eligibility Criteria

At the time of applying for the scholarship, the candidate must be a senior at high school or accredited college and enrolled for a minimum of two or four years.

He/she must reside at Delaware.

He/she must be an eligible non-citizen or resident of the US.

The applicant must have a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian employed by any company located at the Port of Wilmington in Delaware, and who is a member of the Port of Wilmington Maritime Society that has contributed a minimum of $500 towards the Port of Wilmington Maritime Society Scholarship Funds.
