About the Scholarship

Tennessee HOPE Foster Child Tuition Grant is providing financial support to the students of the Tennesse who were in custody of the Dept. of Children Services for at least 1 year after reaching age 14.  The Grant is applied for a student who attends an eligible public postsecondary institution and must contain the less cost of attendance, and any gift aid with the total award should not exceed the cost of tuition as well as mandatory fees at an eligible postsecondary institution. The award is based on the financial need and academic excellence of an applicant. The fund amount is given in the form of net proceeds of the state lottery. An applicant must maintain the minimum cumulative GPA as specified by the financial aid.


How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • The initial step is to fill up the FAFSA application form. The applicants who are interested to apply for this scholarship award must fill and submit the FAFSA form to the financial aid.

  • After the completion of FAFSA form, The Student Aid Report will be generated which indicates the overall financial details about the student's family.

  • A student must demonstrate their high academic performance by submitting the official transcripts of ACT/SAT scorecards.

Award Amount and Deadline:

The Organization is funding $2763 to any number of applicants annually. Awards are renewable for up to six additional years, only if the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.

The scholarship deadline is fixed on 1st September 2020. All applicants must apply to this scholarship before the mentioned date.


Eligibility Criteria

  • A student should be a Tennesse resident.

  • A student should present the Corporation with official certification from the Department of Children’s Services that the student meets the eligibility requirement for the HOPE Foster Child Tuition Grant.

  • A student should enroll in one of the Tennessee public colleges, universities, or private colleges. 

  • Recipients must complete the FAFSA each year and maintain a required grade point average at the end of each semester.
