About the Scholarship

The Regents’ Scholarship helps and encourages Utah high school students to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a core course of study in grades 9-12 and saving for college.

This scholarship is aligned with the Utah Scholars Core Course of Study and is based on national recommendations as outlined by the State Scholars Initiative.

The courses required by the scholarship are proven to help students become college and career ready. In addition, this scholarship also encourages high school students to complete meaningful course work through their senior year.


What is the application procedure?

  • Applications are available online at the Utah Board of Regents (UBOR) website. The student must complete the scholarship application online via the UBOR student portal by logging in into their account.

  • The student must also submit an official transcript from the school where he/she will earn his/her high school diploma.

  • An official college transcripts for any course credit earned through a college/university and a copy of his/her ACT score report, if scores are not reported on his/her high school transcript must be sent to the financial aid department of the organization.


Award Amount and Deadline

The scholarship award amounts to $2500 available to any number of participants per academic year.

A student is instructed to submit all the necessary documents and forms to the concerned department no later than February 3, 2020. Any delay in submitting the application form will be disqualified.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Students can qualify for any of the following combinations of awards: the Base only; Base and UESP; Base and Exemplary; or Base, Exemplary, and UESP.

  • An eligible student must have no criminal record except misdemeanor traffic citations. 

  • In addition to taking courses at the school they are attending, a student may complete coursework through other accredited Utah high schools or Utah eligible institutions.

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must demonstrate excellence in academics and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 GPA out of 4.
