Online Colleges in California

California is one of the predominant western states of the United States. It is a house for some of the significant institutions and universities offering online programs. This system of education has helped to reach many people within and outside the state. Online learning is growing faster than ever in California, with the state’s community colleges leading the way.

California created the California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative to further increase opportunities for students and working professionals to attain higher degrees by offering online courses across the state. Being the largest higher education system in the United States, California Community Colleges enrolls approximately 2.7 million students every year.

California has two state university systems which are California State Universities and Universities of California. These two systems collectively work in maintaining proper standards in education. It has around 150 Public schools, 148 Private Non-Profit universities and 150 Private For-Profit universities offering online education. The number of student enrollments in the year 2016 was 2,700,106. The total degrees awarded during 2015-2016 was 143,570 Associate's Degrees, 203,864 Bachelor's Degrees, 77,453 Master's Degrees and 18,576 Doctorate Degrees according to National Center for Education and Statistics.

California Government's 2018-19 budget plans devoted $120 million to the online community college, which will enroll its first students by late 2019. This tells us that the state is also making initiatives to increase online education.

The best online colleges in California are growing very rapidly and have kept their standards very high in terms of the quality of online education and curriculum. The online colleges offer various programs like Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Masters and Doctorate Degrees along with a few summer courses.
