Louisiana consists of a diverse educational system. Earlier, it was limited to the private universities but currently, it has expanded itself all throughout the state. There were around 16 four-year colleges offering online education as of the recent data. The certificate courses, hybrid degrees, undergraduate, graduate degrees etc are offered in the state of Louisiana.
According to the National Center of Education Statistics, Louisiana comprises of institutions granting 72 degrees. It has 10 private-non-for profit institutes, 25 private-for-profit institutes, and 39 public schools. The total number of enrollments in the year 2016 was 239,287. The total number of degrees awarded in 2015-2016 was 7,396 Associate's Degree, 22,602 Bachelor's Degree, 7,508 Master's Degree and 2,554 Doctoral Degrees.
Louisiana awarded around $26.101 million for need-based grants and around $223.45 million for non-need based grants, according to the National Association of State Student Grant and Aid Programs in 2015. The grants make up for the 100% fiscal support for education in Louisiana.
The state has received tremendous support from Louisiana Online and Louisiana Distance Learning Association. It is focused on providing the online education and pairing you with the right online courses. The association also helps in expanding online education by consulting various colleges in the state. It also gives a forum for exchanging the notes to improve the quality of online education. It is also a member of Southern Regional Education Board’s Electronic Campus which helps the students find the best online colleges in Louisiana and the programs.
Louisiana has shown an increase in the demand for online education and has developed in the recent years.
