Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET

ABET is a non-profit, non-governmental organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Its head office is situated in Baltimore, Maryland.

ABET authorizes schools and universities for program disciplines like applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology at the associate's degree, bachelor's degree, and master degree levels.

 Eligibility Requirements for colleges

The eligibility requirements include:

  • It should include program instructive goals, assessments, educational modules, workforce, and offices.

  • Programs ought to be considered for certification only if it is offered by an organization of advanced education that has administrative, national, or provincial acknowledgment.

  • The program name must be illustrative of the substance of the program, it ought to be indicated every time in the transcripts of its graduates.

  • Every program must meet the general criteria for the commission under which it is being inspected.

  • All engineering program names must incorporate "engineering”.
