Various major business leaders offer a number of scholarships each year funded by their own private foundations. Usually, what actually ends up happening is the issue commonly known as Nepotism. Many companies provide scholarships to their own employees, with a biased mindset and without considering the general public applying for the scholarship.

Wendy’s Scholarship

Wendy's is an American international fast food restaurant chain founded by Dave Thomas on November 15, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio.

Wendy’s headquarters resides in Dublin, Ohio, since January 29, 2006. As of 2018, Wendy's was the world's third-largest hamburger fast-food chain with 6000+ locations, after Burger King and McDonald's

How Much are Wendy's Scholarships

The Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship awards scholarships in three stages- the $1,000 state scholarship winners, the $5,000 national scholarship finalists, and the $10,000 national scholarship winners. As a result, Two National Finalists (one senior male and one senior female) will be selected from each of the five Wendy’s High School Heisman regions.


State Farm Scholarship

State Farm is a huge organization of insurance and financial services companies throughout the United States with corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois. State Farm is the biggest property and casualty insurance and auto insurance provider in the US.

This insurance coverage firm funds the annual State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship Program. Eligible high school seniors become the recipients of a total of 50 scholarships amounting to $5,000 ($2,500 per year, two-year renewable). Only the first 700 applications received in the month of January each year are accepted and considered for the scholarship.


Geico Scholarship

The Government Employees Insurance Company, more commonly known as GEICO is an American auto insurance company based in Maryland. The Agter State Farm, GEICO is the second-largest auto insurer in the US.

GEICO is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway that provides coverage for more than 24 million motor vehicles owned by more than 15 million policyholders as of 2017. 

The GEICO Achievement Award Program awards the most excellent undergraduates. It has been their tradition for over 25 years. Each year they provide a number of eligible applicants with a scholarship amount of $2500 with a great academic background, leadership, and service.


Penguin Books Scholarship

Penguin Books is a British publishing house. It was co-founded by Sir Allen Lane with his brothers Richard and John back in 1935, as a line of the publishers The Bodley Head, only to be followed by a decision of forming a separate entity in the next year.

This publishing company offers an annual Signet Classics Student Scholarship Essay Contest, which awards five high school juniors or seniors with a $1,000 scholarship award, each. However, essays must be submitted by a high school English teacher on behalf of the interested students.


3M Scholarship

The 3M Company, initially known as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, is an American multinational conglomerate corporation operating in the fields of industry, worker safety, health care, and consumer goods. The company produces over 60,000 products under several world-renowned brands.

Scholarships from 3M

3M’s Personal Safety Division (PSD) organizes the 3M PSD Occupational Health and Safety Scholarship Program. Three $5,000 scholarships are provided to a few selected students pursuing master’s degrees in Occupation Health and Safety or Industrial Hygiene Programs.


Visa Scholarship

Visa Inc., more commonly known as Visa, is an American multinational financial services corporation headquartered in Foster City, California, United States. It facilitates electronic funds transfers throughout the world, most commonly through Visa-branded credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards.

The $1000 annual scholarship from My Visa Source is open to students from the United States and Canada. Furthermore, students entering or currently attending university or college full-time can apply.


NBA & TMCF Scholarship

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is a men's professional basketball league in North America, composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). It is one of the four major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is widely considered to be the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. 

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is an American non-profit organization that supports and represents nearly 300,000 students attending its 47 member-schools that include public historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), medical schools, and law schools.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) partner up to administer the David J. Stern Scholarship Program. A chosen student will receive a 3-year renewable scholarship at $10,000 per year. Thus, totaling $30,000 pf financial aid. Furthermore, the winning student will also have the opportunity to intern at the NBA league office.


NHL & TMCF Scholarship

The National Hockey League (NHL; French: Ligue Nationale de Hockey—LNH) is a professional ice hockey league in North America, currently comprising 31 teams: 24 in the United States and 7 in Canada. The NHL is considered to be the premier professional ice hockey league in the world, and one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. 

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is an American non-profit organization that supports and represents nearly 300,000 students attending its 47 member-schools that include public historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), medical schools, and law schools.

The National Hockey League (NHL) and Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) have teamed up to administer the National Hockey League Scholarship. Select high school seniors will win this $6,200 merit scholarship. Moreover, student applicants must be active participants of Hockey is for Everyone in the United States and Canada.


Neiman Marcus Scholarship

Neiman Marcus Group, Inc., initially Neiman-Marcus, is an American chain of luxury department stores owned by the Neiman Marcus Group, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company also owns the Bergdorf Goodman department stores and operates a direct marketing division, Neiman Marcus Direct, which operates catalog and online operations under the Horchow, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman names.

The Neiman Marcus Distinguished Designer Award is given to individuals who keep a distinctive contribution to the world of fashion, namely - designing, promoting, or wearing fashion in a way that influences the general public. The award was first instituted in 1938 and dozens of well-known fashion moguls have received the award.


Google & Lime Connect Scholarship

As we all know, Google LLC is a well-known American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, including online advertising technologies, search engines, cloud computing, software, and hardware.

Lime Connect was found back in 2006, by Rich Donovan. It is an organization whose goal is to find employment for people with disabilities. The idea with Lime Connect is: “to connect with the brightest people with disabilities from all disciplines. Results have been stellar, with the Lime Connect Fellowship Program placing 20 young stars in 2011 alone, six of whom were hired by Google.”

Google, with the support of Lime Connect, awards highly accomplished individuals with the Google Lime Scholarship Program. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the individual’s strength, academic background, and passion for computer science. A sum of $10,000 is provided to those individuals studying in the U.S. and $5,000 for those individuals studying in Canada.


Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship

Dunkin', formerly known as Dunkin' Donuts, is an American multinational coffeehouse and donut company. Founded by William Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1950, the chain was taken over by Baskin-Robbins' holding company Allied Domecq after a time period of 4 decades.

The Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship is awarded to eligible high school seniors who demonstrate a “well-rounded” character, both in and out of academics. Till now, they have awarded around $2 million as scholarship rewards to qualified students. Award amounts vary each year but are typically in the $1,000-$2,000 range.


Intel Scholarship

The Intel Corporation, otherwise known as Intel is an American multinational corporation and technology company based in Santa Clara, California, in the Silicon Valley. After Samsung Electronics, Intel is the world's second-largest and second highest valued semiconductor chip manufacturer based on revenue. Intel is also the founder of the x86 series of microprocessors found in most personal computers.

The Andy Grove Scholarship for the children of the employees of Intel offers scholarships amounting to $1.4 million each year. Nearly 400 scholarships summing up to $4,000 are awarded to students worldwide. This international scholarship is open to students from countries all around the world.


Coca-Cola Scholarship

Coca-Cola, or more commonly known as Coke, is a carbonated soft drink, produced by The Coca-Cola Company. The Coke was invented in the late 19th century by John Stith Pemberton, which was marketed as a replacement to alcoholic drinks and desired to create a patent medicine. Later on, it was bought out by the businessman Asa Griggs Candler, who dominated the world of the soft-drink market throughout the 20th-century using his marketing tactics. The name of the drink refers to two of its main components - coca leaves, and kola nuts. The current formula of Coca-Cola is now kept as a trade secret, whilst a number of recipes and experimental recreations have been declared publically.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is for the graduating high school seniors, with an outstanding academic background. Every year, 150 eligible candidates receive a $20,000 scholarship, each. Till now, nearly 6,000 students have been offered a sum of more than $63 million as educational assistance.


Dr. Pepper Scholarship

Dr. Pepper is another carbonated soft drink created back in the 1880s. It was founded by the pharmacist - Charles Alderton from Waco, Texas, and was first served in the year 1885. Initially,  the United States was chosen to nationally market Dr. Pepper in the year 1904. Since then, the branches of Dr. Pepper’s exports have reached Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Australia, as well as New Zealand and South Africa. 

Dr. Pepper is another one of the financial assistance-providing carbonated soft-drink producers. The Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway evaluated the competitors to contest at the NCAA conference championship game throw-offs. A total of 16 prizes are awarded to the contestants; four $100,000 tuition prizes, four $20,000 runner-up prizes, and eight $2,500 consolation prizes.


Burger King Scholarship

Burger King, commonly referred to as BK, is an American multinational fast-food restaurant chain specializing in hamburgers. The company was founded back in 1953 named as a Florida–based restaurant chain named “Insta-Burger King”, a Jacksonville, with its headquarters in an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County, Florida. After a year, the company was overtaken by some financial difficulties, and two of its Miami-based franchisees, namely -  David Edgerton and James McLamorebought the company under the name "Burger King".

 

Now after decades of a successful run, this fast-food chain offers various scholarships to the employees along with their kin. Although, the James W. McLamore WHOPPER Scholarship is available to the general public. Providing a total of 3 scholarships of $50,000 each, they’re offered to the most highly qualified students – those who display a  promising trait of leadership, substantial work experience, and a dire financial need.
