Admission Requirements at AIU
For Undergraduate Programs
To be eligible for admission into any undergraduate program with American Intercontinental University the applicants must meet the following requirements:
- All completed applications for admission.
- Submit Official Transcripts of High School Graduation or equivalent by the end of the first quarter of enrollment.
- An admissions interview may be requested by the student or the admissions committee.
- Non-native speakers of English are required to provide proof of English proficiency with TOEFL or other English proficiency assessment) before the admission.
American Intercontinental University offers conditional admission where the students can begin courses with a pending receipt of their Proof of High School Graduation or equivalency. Proof of High School Graduation must be received by American Intercontinental University before the first day of the second quarter. An extension is given after approval from the University’s Registrar’s Office.
Candidates may be asked to provide additional documentation to support the validity of their high school graduation. Any candidates who do not provide documentation of high school graduation or equivalency or submits invalid proof of high school graduation will be withdrawn from the University. Students will not be considered as regular students at the University until the Proof of High School Graduation or equivalent is received, evaluated and confirmed. After the receipt and evaluation of the required documents from an accredited high school or equivalency, students will be notified of admission. Students conditionally admitted will have to pay the tuition and fee charges and are financially responsible for all costs of attending the University.
For Graduate Programs

- Additional documents like a resume, certificates, and portfolios may be required.
- An admissions interview may be requested by the student or the admissions committee.
- Non-native speakers of English are required to prove their proficiency in English with TOEFL or other English proficiency assessment before the admission process.

Proof of accredited Bachelor Degree must be received by American Intercontinental University before the first day of the second quarter. An extension is given after approval from the University’s Registrar’s Office.
Candidates may be asked to provide additional documentation to support the validity of their Bachelor Degree. Any candidates who do not provide documentation of Bachelor Degree graduation or equivalency or submits invalid proof of Bachelor Degree graduation will be withdrawn from the University. Students will not be considered as regular students at the University until the Documentation Proof of Graduation or equivalent is received, evaluated and confirmed. After the receipt and evaluation of the required documents from an accredited institute Admission Process or equivalency, students will be notified of admission. Students conditionally admitted will have to pay the tuition and fee charges and are financially responsible for all costs of attending the University.

Undergraduate Programs

- Complete the online application: Applicants must create an account and fill in the online application for admission. The application will ask for basic information, educational background and degree program interested in. The application can be saved to fill out the application later.
- Proof of High School graduation and any college transcripts (if any).
- Proof of High School Graduation: Students will be required to provide proof of the high school graduation or equivalent program. Acceptable official transcripts are High-school transcript or diploma and GED transcripts.
- Proficiency in English & Math: All students applying for the undergraduate program need to prove their proficiency in English & Maths. If a student fails to prove proficiency, American Intercontinental University provides an assessment of one or both skills. This will assist the university in placement and judge whether the candidate requires additional support services.
- Homeschooled Students: Homeschooled students must provide additional educational experience documentation which can be submitted online.
Graduate Program

- Submit Undergraduate Transcripts: Graduate students must submit Official Undergraduate Transcripts to validate their baccalaureate degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- The bachelor’s degree must have been earned from an accredited institute recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally-recognized foreign institution of higher education.
- Internationational students must have their official transcripts translated into English and evaluated by the U.S credential evaluation agency.
- Students can be conditionally enrolled in the graduate-level AIU courses as a non-matriculating student for one session while your official transcripts are being reviewed. Once the verification of the documentation is done student will be given full-time status.
Transfer Credits
84% of AIU Online students, receive credits for previous school or military experience. The number of credits received will be reviewed by assessment evaluators towards the required credits for the degree program. For Associate Degrees, up to 75% of the degree program’s credits requirements are transferable. For Bachelor Degrees, up to 75% of the degree program’s credits requirements are transferable. For Master’s Degree, up to 12 credit hours.
International students can earn credits from:
- The U.S. accredited international institutions.
- Accredited Title-IV eligible institutions located abroad.
- Evaluated credits from an acceptable Credential Evaluators.
- Institutions accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Apply for Financial Aid
AIU students have various Financial Aid options federal loans, grants, and scholarships. Apply for Financial Aid online, as soon as possible.
Military Admissions Advisor
Military Admissions Advisor focuses on the needs of active duty, Reserve, and National Guard students as well as veterans, military spouses, and families. These candidates will need to submit a Veteran Assistance Shopping Sheet with an Online Application for admission.
Education Services Officers
Education Services Officers provide assistance for Tuition Assistance (TA) paperwork, Top-up benefits eligibility, and GI Bill benefits eligibility. To be eligible for the Top-up benefit, a military student must be approved for Tuition Assistance and be eligible for GI Bill Active Duty benefits. You must be a GI Bill-Active Duty participant and must have served two years full service on active duty.
AIU military students can earn credits through the ACE program, CLEP exams, DSST exams, and transfer credit review. AIU Online offers 45% tuition reduction to military students.
Re-Entry Advisor
