Admitted students intending to enroll at the university must submit their final high school transcript or proof of degree (copy of high school diploma) to the Office of Admission.

Students aren't permitted to start classes at Hofstra until proof of their high school degree is received. In addition, federal aid won't be applied to the student's account until proof of the student's high school degree is received (when applicable).

The admission office will confirm all students' transcripts arrive from a high school with a university entrance exam Board (CEEB) code, also because of the highschool seal and/or signature.

If a transcript is from a high school that lacks a CEEB code or seal/signature, the admission office will investigate to verify the varsity is recognized by the state department of education or home school association.

The admission office may request a copy of the student's diploma at any point in the admission process to the verification process. If a diploma is decided invalid, a General Education Development (GED) test could also be required for admission consideration.

Hofstra University doesn't admit students who only complete a capability to profit test with no other proof of high school graduation or college transcript.

Many universities in the US incentivize students by helping them earn university credits by taking certain courses that are available for them in high school. Here are the names of some of such popular programs: AP Credit, CLEP (Credit for Life Experiences), and Dual Enrollment (also known as Dual Credit). As far as the policy of these credits is concerned, each university has a different one. The advantages of such programs include a shorter time to complete a degree, an increased chance of finishing a degree, and a higher GPA. Students who want to avail CLEP and AP credits can go to the website, collegeboard.org, and request to submit the scores to the university of their choice.
