New York Medical College (NYMC) is a private not-for-profit, biomedical health sciences institution that was established in the year 1860 as Homeopathic Medical College in Valhalla, New York. The institution is almost 160 years old and is one of the oldest medical institutions in New York.

In the year 1875, the college opened Metropolitan Hospital as a municipal facility on Ward's Island. As years passed and in the year 1928, the college became the first medical school in New York to establish a scholarship program for minority students. In the mid-1960s, NYMC decided to relocate their campus to Valhalla and in 1972, new science building was opened.

NYMC's primary motive is to provide exceptional education and educate physicians, scientists, health specialists, and other healthcare professionals.

The college now has 1400 students for their various health courses and institution campus is located in a suburban region of New York and on a land of 600 acres.

The college library is Health Sciences Library (HSL) strives to serve all their students, faculty, employees and the residents and the people of New York Medical College. NYMC library has HLC as a leader Electronic Doorway Library. The library is also a resource library in the Middle Atlantic Region and is a member of METRO.
