About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the Winston-Salem Foundation, an organization that was the first foundation of any type to be established in North Carolina and the 16th oldest community foundation in the U.S.

This scholarship was established to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Forsyth County, who will attend a historically black college or university in the countryUnited States. The organization is committed to providing necessary financial assistance for all the students to make it easy for them to pay for their education.


How to apply for the scholarship?

  • The applicant must complete the application which can be found on the Winston-Salem Foundation site with all the necessary details.

  • The application system will identify the scholarships for which the applicant can be eligible for. FAFSA application form must also be filled to determine the financial position of a student.

  • Along with the application, the applicant should submit official high school transcripts and a copy of an acceptance letter to a nursing program.

  • Additionally, a student must also submit a copy of his/her parents' federal tax return.


Scholarship Amount and Deadline

The award amounts to $1,000 for just one student per year and is non-renewable.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This Non-renewable scholarship is provided to students who are graduating high school seniors in Forsyth County.

  • A student must be planning to register in a historically black college or a university in the USA.

  • An applicant must demonstrate their financial need.
