The student must be a National Achievement or National Merit finalists or semi-finalists and designate American University as his/her first choice with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. This award is for U.S. students. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Must be accepted to American University in Washington, D.C. as a first time freshmen. Must be a graduating high school senior or older.
