About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the CollegeBound Foundation, an organization that started with a grand vision of granting financial aid for students in need. CollegeBound now employs Program Specialists in Baltimore Public schools, who work year-round to assist students with the college application process.
The Arthur Elder, II Scholarship, established to honor Arthur Elder II, is for a student who may not have lived up to his/her full potential in high school, yet wishes to pursue higher studies. For the scholarship, preference is given to students who have taken part in school sports or other extra-curricular activities. The scholarship is also open to students from any public high school in Baltimore city and must have participated in athletics or any extracurricular activities.
How to apply for the scholarship?
The applicant should complete the application on the STARS online portal by submitting all the relevant documents.
In addition to the application, a student should also submit 2 letters of recommendation and a copy of acceptance.
A student must also submit official transcripts and official SAT/ACT scorecards before the deadline.
How much the scholarship award amounts to?
The award amounts up to $1,250 per year and is non-renewable.
One award is offered per year.
All the necessary documents and records must be submitted to the official website online by logging in into the account with the unique username and password on or before March 1.
High preference will be given to a student graduating from Heritage High School but the opportunity is open to all from any public high school in Baltimore City.
You must have an average of C maintained and should have participated in high school athletics and a few other extracurricular activities.
You should have a plan on enrolling at a four-year college.
