About the Scholarship
ASTA Holland American Line Graduate Research Scholarship was Established in 1995 by Holland America Line. The foundation is committed to its mission through excellence, by creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences, every time. The purpose of this scholarship is to support both an undergraduate studying travel, tourism and hospitality and a student conducting graduate-level research with a concentration on the travel and tourism industry. Applications are evaluated by the Tourism Cares Academic Scholarship Selection Committees, consisting of travel, tourism, and hospitality educators and industry professionals from across the United States.
How to Apply for Scholarship?
Applications are available on the Tourism Cares website. All applicants must access the online application in order to apply for this scholarship.
A student must submit a completed 'Graduate Research Faculty Advisor Confirmation Form', in order to apply for this award.
In addition to that, an applicant must provide a five-page research proposal describing his/her research on a topic with a tourism focus and a one-page reflection essay.
A student must also submit a resume and a letter of recommendation from his/her academic or research advisor.
All the official transcripts and reference letters must be sent as PDF files directly to the financial aid of Tourism Cares.
Award Amount and Deadline:
The Tourism Cares financial aid department is funding $4000 to one eligible applicant per year, and it is non-renewable.
The scholarship deadline date is fixed on April 1st, 2020. Hence all the applicants must submit their necessary official documents and application no later than the given date.
A student must be conducting research on a topic with a tourism focus and be able to demonstrate a clear focus on and commitment to the tourism-subject area.
Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States or Canada
Applicants must be entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application.
Students who enroll in full time or part-time for graduate study are eligible.
A student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
