About the Scholarship

Don & Sybil Harrington Scholarship is accredited by Arizona Community Foundation. The organization was set up in the year 1970 to serve and collaborate to mobilize enduring philanthropy for a better Arizona. This scholarship provides financial assistance for high school seniors and current college students throughout Arizona.

What are the basic requirements needed to apply for this scholarship?

  • The students applying for this scholarship must have been completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to receive this award.

  • Applicants must provide with an essay of 500- to 700-word addressing the topic listed on the application.

  • Applicants are required to submit a letter of recommendation along with the personal statement.

  • Applicants must also submit their ACT/SAT scorecards on applying for this grant.

Don & Sybil Harrington Scholarship award amounts to

  • This scholarship provides $2,500 annually for students attending community colleges and $5,000 annually for students attending a four-year college or university.
  • Awards are renewable for an additional year or three years, depending on enrollment.

  • The number of awards varies annually. Approximately three awards were provided last year.

Deadline information

The application deadline has not yet been announced by the committee for the current year but remains to be the same as the previous year as of March 15, 2020. Students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Applications and other information are available online on the Arizona Community Foundation website.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant should be a senior from Lubbock county high school

  • Applicant should be planning to pursue a degree in the physical sciences, math or engineering

  • Applicant should be in need of financial aid

  • Applicant should score 1800 on the SAT or 28 on the ACT

  • Applicant should have a high school GPA of 3.5
